U. S. Steel is proud to shine a spotlight on 15 employees whose commitment to community service set them apart in 2024.
At the top of the list: Jeremiah North, a Utility Technician at our Great Lakes Works, who has been named our 2024 Volunteer of the Year!
Jeremiah volunteered 858 hours in 2024. His commitment to the Flat Rock community in Michigan is evident through the 39 thoughtful community nomination letters submitted on his behalf for this award.
In recognition of his efforts, U. S. Steel will donate $15,000 to the Flat Rock Rotary Club, the organization Jeremiah selected to support. Flat Rock Rotary Club operates under the broader mission of Rotary International, whose mission is to: "Provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through our fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.”

Joining Jeremiah are 14 exceptional colleagues recognized as 2024 United by Service Champions. Each of these employees helped strengthen their communities in unique and meaningful ways—and each earned a $5,000 donation for their chosen charity.
Since launching in 2021, our United by Service initiative has celebrated the generosity, compassion, and impact of our employees around the world. Inspired by the values of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., this program encourages team members to find causes they care about and make a difference through action.
We know how much our employees value opportunities to give of themselves and make meaningful contributions to our communities. In 2024 alone, U. S. Steel employees contributed more than 20,000 hours of volunteer time, supporting everything from environmental cleanups to food insecurity programs. We also know how much their volunteerism matters. Both are undeniable proof that when our communities win, we all win.
From the beginning, it has been the people of U. S. Steel that are behind the good we achieve, both in our facilities and in the communities where we live and operate. We honor our employees, admire their dedication, and appreciate everything they do to make the world a better place one action, one person, and one community at a time.
A heartfelt thank you to all our 2024 honorees—and to every employee who continues to give back. Your time and talents are helping build stronger communities everywhere we live and work.
